What is Derma Support Gold?

Derma Support Gold is a holistic, high-quality product designed by a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) veterinarian for dogs with excess yeast on their skin’s surface.

TCM is an ancient therapeutic practice that has been used for thousands of years and works with the body's energy to unblock stagnancy and realign imbalance. For example, energetically cooling herbs may be applied to ease manifestations of heat in the body, like a hot, irritated rash. While TCM traditionally uses energetic principles for therapeutic applications, scientific research verifies how this holistic approach affects the body on a cellular level.

This formula targets the root cause of the yeast imbalance that our canine companions can experience on their skin and inside the ears.

While the presence of yeast, a fungal organism, is a normal part of healthy skin and ears, excess growth can lead to discomfort and further complications. This effective product provides unique actions that help restore yeast to a healthy, balanced level.

Derma Support Gold is taken internally. Before administering Derma Support Gold, it’s essential to confirm that your dog’s skin condition is caused by yeast overgrowth. Consult your veterinarian as needed.

What is Derma Support Gold used for?

Did you know that all healthy dogs naturally have a yeast called Malassezia pachydermatis on their skin and inside their ears? While smaller amounts are normal, excess growth can lead to persistent discomfort and changes in your dog's skin and coat.

When this yeast overgrows, your dog may start experiencing minor itching and red patches on their skin. Over time, these symptoms can worsen, leading to chronic itching, thickened skin, and even hair loss. The excess yeast can also trigger an increase in oil production, resulting in a greasy appearance and sometimes discharge. You might also notice a crust on the skin and an unpleasant odor.

This constant itching can be quite distressing for your dog, especially in areas where their skin folds, such as between the paw pads, their ears, anal area, nose, eyelids, neck, and armpits. You may observe them gnawing at their paws or scratching these areas frequently in an attempt to ease the discomfort.

Yeast overgrowth can cause:

  • Intense itching
  • Skin irritation and inflammation (especially in areas where skin folds)
  • Sores
  • Sticky discharge
  • Hair loss
  • Unpleasant smelling skin
  • Yellowish/greenish discharge from ears (often accompanied by a musty smell)

Yeast overgrowth, also known as Malassezia dermatitis, can be triggered by various factors. These include an imbalanced immune system, allergies, prolonged use of antibiotics or steroids, and underlying medical conditions. Hormonal issues like hypothyroidism or Cushing's disease, external skin parasites, and certain medications can also contribute to yeast overgrowth.

While yeast overgrowth can affect all dog breeds, some breeds are more prone to it than others. Breeds such as Basset Hounds, Cocker Spaniels, Dachshunds, Poodles, Chihuahuas, Maltese, and certain terriers like Silky Terriers, West Highland White Terriers, and Australian Terriers are particularly susceptible to this condition.

Food allergy - or sensitivity?

Understanding if your pet has a food allergy or sensitivity is crucial, as these conditions can contribute to yeast overgrowth.

Like humans, dogs can develop sensitivities to foods they eat regularly without variation. Just as we benefit from a diverse diet, so do our furry friends. It's advisable to introduce variety into your dog's meals periodically. Some of the most common culprits that trigger dog sensitivities or allergies include beef and dairy products, chicken and chicken by-products, soy, corn, wheat, and artificial food coloring.

Nutrition:

To help your dog feel their best, consider adding essential nutrients, like vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids such as Pet Wellbeing Omega-3 Daily Wellness, to their diet. Omega-3s are known for their ability to promote skin repair, support inflammation, and nurture vitality.

A daily supplement, like SPARK Daily Nutritional Greens Supplement, rich in whole food sources, probiotics, and enzymes, may be just the thing to nourish your beloved pet’s immunity and overall health and provide them with the energy they need to thrive every day!

A note from our veterinarian:

Derma Support Gold results depend on the severity and length of your dog’s condition. Although results vary for each patient, you should expect issues to gradually subside over weeks or months.

The formula may be discontinued once desired results are achieved. If issues reappear, reintroduce as necessary. Your dog doesn’t need constant supplementation.

The herbal ingredients in this product are specifically formulated to address both the present issues and underlying cause.

In the TCM model, yeast overgrowth on the skin is known as a “damp heat” condition and can be aggravated by external and internal sources, like poor diet, food allergies, and stress. It’s important to note that damp heat conditions are generally slow to resolve, so ‘quick fix’ solutions won’t guarantee long-term comfort.

In damp heat conditions, an herbal formula works to "detoxify and cool the blood." This approach targets the underlying condition, which is highly effective when supporting this type of disorder.
